Development and Exploitation of Low Enthalpy Geothermal Systems: Example of "the Dogger" in the Paris Basin, France

چکیده

A feature of French geothermal engineering is the development of industrial projects in normal gradient, non-convective areas. The economic feasibility of exploitin producing between 150 and 350 m /h at temperatures from 5 5 O to 85' from depths of 1,500 to 2,000 meters, in sedimentary basins with normal gradient, for direct heat production has been proved by 50 plants providing heating for over 500,000 people during the last few years. This opens new possibilities for geothermal energy development the world over, in particular for areas where heat consumption is higher than 2,500 Tons oil equivalent (Toe)/year over several square kilometers. The recent and rapid development of geothermal projects in France, in particular in the Paris Basin has provided much more information on the characteristics of the Jurassic Dogger, which is the unit tapped by geothermal doublets (one production and one injection well). 9 Detailed study of the Dogger reservoir in the Paris Basin is one of the main objectives of the IMRG research and development program drawn up in 1983. The preliminary results presented here are oriented towards (1) improved knowledge of the potential geothermal resources, and ( 2 ) analysis of optimum development conditions.

Gas Geochemistry of the Dogger Geothermal Aquifer ( Paris Basin , France )

The low enthalpy program developped in the Paris Basin provides the opportunity for studying the gas geochemistry of the calcareous aquifer of the Dogger. Hydrocarbons and C02 are mainly biogenic, He displays high concentrations. He, Ar and N2 have multiple origins (radioactive decay, atmospheric migration, biochemical processes). The distribution of the gases in the zones of the basin varies i...

Modelling of the kaolin deposits and reserve classification challenges of Charentes Basin, France

The kaolinitic clays have been exploited for more than a hundred years, in the western part of the Charentes Basin, France, and belong to a paleo-deltaic network. The recent deposits are relatively richer in alumina in comparison with the older ones. The genesis of the kaolin deposits of the Charentes Basin follows simple geological rules, but their detailed geometry has a great complexity, rei...

Doped bentonitic grouts for implementing performances of low-enthalpy geothermal systems

Background Energy is a fundamental condition for the social growth of the community, being an essential ingredient for almost all human activities and services. During the past decade, the energy policy has been working towards more environmental-friendly renewable power plants in order to achieve maximum advantages and/or fewer impacts from the exploitation of fossil-fuel resources (Kalaiselva...

Relevance of a Toll-Free Call Service Using an Interactive Voice Server to Strengthen Health System Governance and Responsiveness in Burkina Faso

Background In Africa, health systems are poorly accessible, inequitable, and unresponsive. People rarely have either the confidence or the opportunity to express their opinions. In Burkina Faso, there is a political will to improve governance and responsiveness to create a more relevant and equitable health system. Given their development in Africa, information and communication technolog...

The Analysis of Heat Storage Capacity and the Formation Characteristics of Geothermal Resources in Sedimentary Basins —— A Case Study on Dunhuang Basin

The geothermal resources in sedimentary basin are affected by many factors because the characteristic of geothermal reservoirs is very complex, so the heat storage capacities are hard to calculate. This paper took Dunhuang Basin as an example to analyze the geological structure, stratigraphic structure and the formation mechanism of geothermal water based on the formation characteristics of the...
